The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids for the construction of the Kalyan-Dombivali-Taloja Metro Line 12, also known as the orange line, to connect the extended suburbs of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The 20.75 km line will have 17 metro stations and will be an extension of the Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan Metro line 5. The project is estimated to cost ₹1,521.80 crore and will take three years to complete, with challenges expected in rehabilitating structures in congested areas. The line will link with other metro lines, providing an effective public transportation network.
