Kochi Metro's Phase 2 receives funds for land acquisition & progress continues
Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) allocates funds for land acquisition, marking a crucial step forward in the development of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) Phase 2 on the Infopark-JLN Stadium stretch. The geotechnical survey, which provides recommendations for foundation requirements, is expected to be completed by the end of the month. Meanwhile, about 90% of land acquisition on the Palarivattom to Infopark stretch has been completed, with the remaining expected to be finished in the coming months. The project will require 1.714 hectares for the construction of nine metro stations in Phase 2, including areas in Edapally South, Vazhakkala, and Kakkanad. The state is working to secure sufficient funding for the project and has shortlisted various funding agencies, including foreign ones.
