K2 Infragen Secures Rs 158.58 Crore Railway Electrification Upgrade Contract

K2 Infragen Ltd has secured a Rs 158.58 crore contract from Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd for the upgradation of railway electrification infrastructure across key sections of the North Western Railway network.

The project involves the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of an upgraded electric traction system, converting the existing 1x25 kV network to a 2x25 kV system to enhance railway operational efficiency and freight handling capacity.

The contract covers the Luni–Samdari–Bhildi section in the Jodhpur Division and the Jaipur–Sawai Madhopur section in the Jaipur Division. Together, the project spans 403 route kilometres and 497.65 track kilometres.

The traction upgradation is aimed at strengthening railway infrastructure to support a freight loading target of 3,000 metric tonnes, enabling higher capacity operations and improved network performance.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months and is expected to play a key role in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of rail transportation across the region.
