Indian Railways to Conduct Fire Safety Audits at Railway Stations Nationwide

Railway-Infra
Indian Railways will conduct comprehensive fire safety audits at railway stations across the country to strengthen passenger safety and enhance protection of railway assets. The initiative aims to assess existing fire safety systems, identify gaps, and implement corrective measures to improve emergency preparedness.

The audits will cover station buildings, electrical installations, air-conditioning and ventilation systems, emergency exits, firefighting equipment, water availability, pumping arrangements, and sprinkler systems. The objective is to ensure that stations are fully equipped to respond effectively to fire and other emergencies.

The exercise will also evaluate compliance with prescribed fire safety standards. Any deficiencies identified during inspections will be addressed on priority through appropriate corrective actions.

Joint teams comprising officials from various railway departments will carry out the audits, with support from specialized agencies and State Fire Departments wherever required.

The initiative reflects Indian Railways’ continued commitment to strengthening safety standards and improving emergency response capabilities across its network.
