DMRC to build Loop Transit System connecting Central Vista Govt Offices

DMRC
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has appointed a design consultant for the construction of an underground loop transit system that will connect the government offices being built along the Central Vista in Delhi. The system, which will have four stations and a 2.65 km loop line connected to the existing Central Secretariat Metro station, is expected to have a peak footfall of 20,000 passengers per hour. The project will use an automated people mover, a small-scale automated transit system with 3 to 4 coaches, and the exits at the four stations will provide direct access to office buildings. DMRC will provide technical expertise to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) during the design phase, and after the site is handed over to DMRC, it will execute all remaining works such as electrical and mechanical systems, traction work, overhead equipment, depot construction, and rolling stock. The underground system will be operated and maintained by DMRC. A draft detailed project report has been submitted to the CPWD by DMRC.
