Ahluwalia Contracts awarded ₹462-cr contract for Chandigarh Railway Station redevelopment
The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has awarded a ₹462 crore contract to Ahluwalia Contracts (India) for the redevelopment of the Chandigarh railway station. The project, which will be completed on an engineering, procurement, and construction model, involves the redevelopment and renovation of the station within a period of 15 months. The upgraded station will provide passengers with amenities comparable to those found in international airports and will also act as a new city center, playing an important role in the overall development of the city. The redeveloped station will have separate arrival and departure areas and a 72-meter-wide roof plaza with food and retail shops for passenger convenience. RLDA Vice Chairman Ved Parkash Dudeja stated that the primary goals of the station upgrades are to provide passengers with best-in-class amenities and to improve their travel experience.
