Metro corridors get Rs.13,494-cr infusion

In a recent move, the MMRDA sanctioned Rs. 13,494-cr for twin metro corridors in the Mumbai metropolitan city. Out of the total targeted funds, Rs. 6,976-cr has been cleared for the Dahisar-Andheri metro corridor of which Rs. 1,000-cr each has been earmarked for Metro VII (Dahisar-Andheri) and Metro II-A (DN Nagar-Dahisar). In addition, Rs. 800-cr has been allotted for the Metro III (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) underground corridor. The nodal agency has also approved the new 13 km Dahisar east Mira Road-Bhayander Metro IX. This route will have 10 stations and will entail a staggering investment of Rs. 6,518cr. The allocations for other route are: Metro IV (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Mulund-Kasarvadavali) Rs. 200cr, Metro V (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) Rs. 5cr, and Metro-VI (Swami Samarth Nagar JVLR-Vikhroli) Rs. 5cr. The second phase of the Monorail corridor running from Wadala to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk has received Rs. 208-cr and a provision of Rs. 75-cr has been made for the improvement of Bandra-Kurla Complex, said official sources.
