BMC clears Rs.1,000-cr for road project

In order to build hassle-free road network in the coastal areas, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recently approved Rs. 1,000-cr for the ambitious coastal road project in its budget for the next fiscal. The coastal road to be built along Mumbai's western sea front with a length of 35.6 km connecting Nariman Point in south Mumbai to the city's western suburb of Kandivli, easing vehicular movement in the entire stretch. The allocation for the roads department stood at Rs. 1,095cr, as compared to Rs. 2,886-cr last year. The BMC earmarked Rs. 12,874-cr for the capital expenditure that will fund infrastructure projects like roads, storm water drains, and water supply, said an official spokesperson.
