Travelers will soon have a smooth ride to the world famous Ajanta Caves in Maharashtra as the work of four-laning of the 150-km Aurangabad-Jalgaon highway has been fast tracked. One side of the carriage way will be completed shortly and the entire work is slated to be completed by the end of this year, said PWD executive engineer Jayant Chivane, adding that the widening of Aurangabad-Sillod-Ajanta-Jalgaon road got delayed due to irregularities, but concretization work has picked up pace. The number of tourists visiting the Ajanta Caves has gone down drastically due to poor condition of the key connecting road.
