In a major development to upgrade the road infrastructure in Maharashtra, Centre has cleared a whopping sum worth Rs. 67,000-cr to build new roads and upgrade the existing ones across the state, Public Works Minister Chandrakant Patil, said in a statement, elaborating that the state has committed to make all roads in the State pothole-free in two years. Apart from Mumbai-Nagpur super expressway, plans are afoot for developing a network of roads in Vidarbha and Marathwada. The State Government had submitted a proposal of Rs 97,000-cr to the Centre for the purpose and the Centre on its part sanctioned Rs 67,000-cr for road building and allied construction works, he claimed.
