L&T wins $489-mn construction contracts in Odisha

The construction unit of Larsen & Toubro has won contracts worth $489 million in the Effluent Treatment Business from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department of the Government of Odisha on EPC basis. It entails execution of rural water supply projects in the Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha, and includes design, engineering, supply and erection of 5,828km of transmission and distribution pipelines, construction of three intake structures of 82MLD total capacity, three water treatment plants of 78MLD total capacity, pumping stations and water storage structures. The projects involve automation, including measurement of input and output water quantity and quality at each level through SCADA and other instrumentation. The Effluent Treatment Business has also secured add-on orders in some of its existing projects both within and outside the country, said an official spokesperson.
