Kurukshetra gets ₹225-cr elevated rail corridor

The Haryana Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) has readied a detailed draft and design for a ₹225 crore elevated rail corridor in Kurukshetra. The draft has been sent to the Central government for final approval for the 5 km long rail track for which the tender is being floated shortly. Out of the total investment, ₹125 crore will be spent by the state and ₹100 crore will be provided by the India railways. The agency has been appointed on behalf of HRIDC which has already carried out testing of the planned rail line. The historic city is being developed by the state government as a pilgrimage and tourist destination.
