Andhra Pradesh Government has planned to build South India's biggest industrial park around the Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy Kurnool airport entailing an investment of ₹800 crore. About 7,000-acre of land has already been acquired. The airport runway would be expanded in the subsequent phase as the Airport Authority of India has already given in-principle approval for the proposed expansion up to 3,100 metres on the western fringes.
