The Kerala Rapid Transit Corporation Ltd (KRTL), which has entrusted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the consultant for the mega metro project, to prepare a roadmap of the metro project for which the latter has recently finalized and handed over designs of three flyovers projects entailing an investment worth Rs. 272.6-cr to KRTL. As per the designs about 163 buildings have to be shifted to facilitate the construction of flyovers at busy junctions along the proposed 21.82-km Technocity-Karamana elevated light metro corridor to the government. The flyovers, which will ensure smooth flow of traffic along the NH 66, are to come up at Sreekariyam, Ulloor and Pattom junctions. As a matter of fact, the flyover at the busy Thampanoor area has been finalised and is being fined tuned by the DMRC and the KRTL the special purpose vehicle set up to execute the light metro has in turn forwarded the designs to the Public Works Department for approval, official sources said.
