KMRL floats tenders for ₹ 747-cr water metro project
The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has floated tenders for construction of five more jetties as part of the ₹ 747-crore Water Metro project. The boat jetties will be constructed at Bolghatty, Fort Kochi, High Court, Mattancherry and Vypeen, for which the last date of submission of the tender is March 3. The High Court Jetty will be constructed at an overall size of 16,000 sq.ft. and there will be a charging station for the electric boats, automatic fare collection barriers, and a waiting centre. The duration between the boat services is 15 minutes and there will be a waiting facility near the waterfront area for passengers. The plan is to finish the tender proceedings in a time-bound manner whereby the lowest bidder will be allotted the work after scrutiny of the bids, said managing director APM Mohammed Haneesh. Tenders for the three jetties at Vyttila, Eroor and Kakkanad have already been floated and the construction work will be allotted in February, he added.
