KMDA clears Rs.248 cr flyover venture

The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has recently given go-ahead for the execution of the four-lane flyover in Jadavpur entailing an investment of Rs.248 crore, chairman, Firhad Hakim said that the nodal agency will issue the work order shortly and that the tender documents would be opened in the next fortnight. The four-lane flyover on Raja S C Mullick Road will start where the Dhakuria bridge ends and cross Jadavpur police station and Jadavpur 8-B bus halting point before ending at Sulekha crossing. There is extreme traffic congestion between Dakshinapan and Jadavpur PS crossings and the flyover will ease the bottleneck. However, the traffic cops pleaded that the move can also clog the two major roads for south Kolkata — Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and SP Mukherjee Road. Prince Anwar Shah Road, which houses a mall and has seen a massive jump in vehicles plying towards bypass and it will be inadequate to handle the pressure.
