Kerala cracks Rs. 10,000 cr twin road projects

Ensuring quicker access to road-users on the 1,195-km Hill Highway covering 13 districts and a 606-km coastal highway linking nine districts, will be constructed in Kerala at an investment of Rs.10,000cr. Out of the total amount, Rs.6,000-cr Hill Highway has been proposed from Nandarappadavu in Kasaragod to Kadukkara near Parassala, Thiruvananthapuram. The Coastal Highway will traverse through nine districts and will cost Rs. 4,000-cr and the twin highways were cleared at a high level meeting recently. The alignment for the Hill Highway, which passes through 13 districts (except Alappuzha) and 45 Assembly constituencies, has been worked out by Natpac. In Kasaragod District, the Hill Highway will begin at Nandarappadavu and end at Cherupuzha (110 km), said official sources.
