Kerala ropes in DMRC for Kozhikode Metro

In a recent decision, state cabinet in Kerala selected Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to provide initial consultancy services for the preliminary works of the proposed Kozhikode Light Metro Project. Shortly after getting Centre's clearance for the project, the consultancy for the entire project will be handed over to DMRC. To ensure early completion of land acquisition proceedings for the project, a Deputy Collector/Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) has been appointed to fast track the process. It may be recalled that the state government has already appointed DMRC as consultant for the proposed Light Metro Project at the state capital for which about 19,893 hectares land will be acquired for Kozhikode project, 14,474 hectares land will be taken over for building flyover for Thiruvananthapuram Metro, 2.77 hectare additional land will also be taken over and alongside a provision of Rs 272.84-cr has been made for the construction of three flyovers.
