Karnataka Drafts Policy for Effective Management of C&D Waste

The Karnataka government

The Karnataka government has introduced a draft policy to enhance the management of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste across the state, including Bengaluru. The policy, set to take effect on April 1, 2025, aims to promote sustainable practices by reusing and recycling at least 50% of C&D waste generated in municipal corporations' limits by December 2026. Similarly, urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state are required to achieve the same target by December 2027. Additionally, the policy mandates eliminating the dumping of C&D waste in open spaces across Karnataka by December 2027, emphasizing the state’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
