The Karnataka government has cleared a bridge project between Amabaragodlu and Kalasavalli villages in the Shravasti backwater region of Sagara taluka to be built at an investment of ₹423 crore. Once commissioned, the 2.14 km bridge will be the second longest in Karnataka using the cable-slide technology. Officials informed that the agencies have already put in place all the mandatory clearances; the tender process is in full swing; and construction is slated to be completed within 30 months. Called the Tumari bridge, it will connect Sigandur-Chowdeshwari temple with the main land. Currently, vehicles and devotees reach Sigandur temple on barges. The bridge will boost tourism as it will provide direct connectivity between Sigandur-Kollur-Mangaluru.
