Kanpur-Shuklaganj 4-Lane Road Project 50% Complete

A new 6.7 km four-lane road project from Kanpur's Ganga Barrage to Shuklaganj Marhala intersection is progressing steadily, with approximately 50% of the construction completed. The project, led by the Public Works Department (PWD), is expected to significantly ease travel between Kanpur, Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Raebareli.
The total estimated cost of the project is ₹75 crore. Of this, ₹10 crore has been allocated to the electricity department for relocating poles and transformers that obstruct the road path. Civil construction is being carried out with ₹42 crore, while approximately ₹23 crore is set aside for compensating landowners whose plots fall within the alignment, particularly between Suraiya railway crossing and Marhala Chauraha at Nabi Nagar Azad Marg.
PWD Assistant Engineer Shah Noor confirmed that the asphalting work for a 3.5 km stretch has already been completed. Once finished, this new four-lane road will improve connectivity and reduce travel time across key cities in Uttar Pradesh.
