JSW Cement launches ₹2,875-cr capacity addition

JSW Cement
JSW Steel has decided to invest ₹2,875 crore to double its manufacturing capacity to 25 million tons per annum, informed managing director, Parth Jindal. The company is currently, country’s ninth-largest cement maker with an installed capacity of 14 MTPA across west, south and east India, the capacity expansion will happen on the back of increased raw material supply from its subsidiary Shiva Cement. Given the fact that the company has its own clinker, it has revised its target upwards to have an overall capacity of 25 million tons. Prior to this, the biggest risk for the business was not having own clinker and being dependant on imports, for which prices can go up anytime. To reach the laid down targets of installed capacity, the company will undertake capacity expansion at its existing plants at a cost of $35 per ton against the industry average of $80 per ton.
