JLG Unveils the EC450AJ Compact Articulated Electric Boom Lift

JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation business and a leading global manufacturer of mobile elevating work platforms and telehandlers, has unveiled a new articulated electric boom lift, the EC450AJ Compact, at bauma 2025.
A perfect fit for congested job sites, the EC450AJ Compact delivers robust performance in confined spaces and features a lightweight, compact design that makes it easy to transport and manoeuvre. The lithium-ion battery-powered machine produces zero emissions and low noise levels while also offering reduced running costs. Designed in Europe and manufactured at JLG’s facility in Italy, it includes the same user-friendly controls as all JLG boom lifts.
The EC450AJ Compact comes equipped with 10kWh lithium iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries as standard, with an optional upgrade to 20kWh for extended run time and added peace of mind in demanding environments. The batteries are tested to last the machine’s lifetime and come with full warranty support, resulting in a reduced total cost of ownership. Recharging is quick and convenient with the standard 230VAC 1-phase on-board charger and an optional 400VAC 3-phase charger. When both chargers are fitted, charging times are further reduced. The lithium batteries also feature integrated heaters for charging and efficient operation in sub-zero temperatures.
Lightweight and Compact
The EC450AJ Compact is only 2m wide and features true zero tail swing, offering excellent manoeuvrability on site and enabling operation in the most confined spaces. As one of the lightest models in its class, it is easy and cost-effective to transport on a standard truck bed – two units can fit on a low-bed trailer.
To support visibility in low-light conditions, the EC450AJ Compact offers an optional lighting system that illuminates the area around the machine and includes an illuminated platform control panel. These features assist operators during loading, unloading, and navigation in dimly lit environments.
Providing excellent traction on rough terrain, the boom lift features a 4WD AC electric drive system and an oscillating axle. It has two-wheel steering at the front axle and can operate on slopes of up to 45% for site transportation and up to 5° when elevated, offering greater access and versatility.
Additional key features include 355° turntable rotation, non-marking, non-directional rough-terrain foam-filled tires as standard, and a 250kg platform capacity. The new three-entry platform gives operators more flexibility on the job site. The platform can be removed without touching the control column, significantly reducing repair times.
Industry-leading systems such as JLG Skyline enhanced operator and control panel protection and ClearSky SmartFleet™ telematics are included as standard. The platform also features JLG’s robust, ergonomic, and user-friendly controls.
“We are delighted to present the EC450AJ Compact at bauma this year, as it demonstrates how we’re constantly assessing and developing new products to meet the needs of an evolving market,” says Nicola Sacchet, EMEAI Product Manager for Boom, Scissor, and Vertical Products. “We have enhanced this compact and lightweight model with rough-terrain capabilities and advanced technology to create a valuable solution for zero-emission and noise-controlled job sites.”
