JLG Industries - an Oshkosh Corporation company and global manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, launched the first of three all-new drivable stock picker (DSP) machines at the Bauma trade show in Munich. Designed by JLG's engineers in Tonneins, France, the DSP range will be available in three picking heights: small (4.13m/13.55ft), medium (5.64m/18.5ft), and large (7.18m/23.55ft). The DSP-M allows the operator to piece pick comfortably at a height of 16.4ft picking height. This revolutionary range of stock-pickers with the help of material handling partners, meets the need for specialized access equipment; with features similar to forklifts such as the controls, mast design and operator ergonomics, proven reliability and working height of an AWP. Sr. product marketing manager, EMEAIR at JLG, Jan-Willem van Wier, said that the market for material handling and stock picking is growing rapidly. Design details for the product family include a patented, virtually maintenance-free new mast structure without cables or chains for extra rigidity. Patented intuitive controls will allow the operator to feel secure and the rested posture will improve operator efficiency. The series is powered by a single low maintenance AC drive motor supported by two caster wheels for optimal machine stability. Adding to operator comfort, the DSP series has a low step-in height of just 20cm and an unobstructed access to the picking tray. The series can be equipped with various tray configurations like a standard manual or optional electric, tire or extendable tray, suited for different industry applications. DSP-M will be ready for shipment in July and the other heights will follow later on in the year.
