Japan International Cooperation Agency
Japan International Cooperation Agency has signed a loan agreement with the Government of India to provide financial assistance of about Rs 6,100 crore for Phase 3 (I) of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Project.

The project involves the development of approximately 44.65 km of metro lines with 31 elevated stations across key corridors in Bengaluru. The planned corridors include the Outer Ring Road section (Corridor 3-1) and the western growth corridor (Corridor 3-2), aimed at expanding the city’s mass rapid transit network.

The metro expansion is designed to address increasing traffic demand in the Bengaluru metropolitan region by improving urban mobility and reducing congestion. The project will also support transit-oriented development through enhanced multimodal integration, including feeder bus systems and shared mobility solutions.

Once implemented, the project is expected to improve connectivity, reduce vehicular pollution, and support sustainable urban development in Bengaluru.
