JICA & GOI signs ODA loans for 4 projects including Delhi & Bangalore Metros

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of India has signed ODA (Official Development Assistance) loans of ₹16,186 crores for 4 projects. The loans are for Delhi Metro and Bangalore Metro. This will allow DMRC and BMRCL to invite multiple tenders for varied civil and systems works for both.

For the Delhi Metro, JICA will provide loan of ₹8,390 crores for Phase-4. It will be used to fund 3 lines of 65 km total length which are already approved by the Central Government under Phase-3. These lines are Magenta Line from Janakpuri West – R.K. Ashram (28.92 km) with 25 stations, Silver Line from Aerocity – Tughlakabad (23.6 km) with 15 stations and Pink Line from Mukundpur – Maujpur (12.58 km) with 8 stations.

For the Bangalore Metro project, JICA will allot ₹3,717 crores for Phase-2. It includes Line R6 (21.1 km) from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, Phase 2A (18.3 km) from Silk Board to K.R. Puram and Phase 2B (37.7 km) from K.R. Puram-Kempegowda International Airport Terminal.
