Jewar Intl' Airport reaches tendering stage

The nod from the state government on the Jewar concessionaire bid is likely to come soon with the general elections in the country having come to an end. According to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the process of issuing global tenders will begin shortly as the project monitoring and implementation committee has already given a go ahead.. Expected to be ready by 2023, the airport aims to take the load off Delhi's IGI airport. Chief of YEIDA, Arun Vir Singh, said that the bid document was finalized in February this year. YEIDA is also waiting for approval from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's (DMRC) revised plans for the Airport Express line as well as the commercial metro connectivity line to Jewar. In the authority meeting with DMRC , in which it has asked for a new chapter on a separate dedicated airport line for Jewar, which should run parallel to the current proposed 35.64-km commercial line by DMRC. DMRC had given a presentation to YEIDA on the first phase of the commercial corridor, which will connect Knowledge Park 2 in Greater Noida with the Jewar airport with 25 stations. The Gautam Budh Nagar administration has hastened the work of providing compensation in villages where land has been acquired for the mega project.
