Govt pushes 80 airport projects under NABH scheme

Airport Projects
The civil aviation ministry is focusing on developing new airports, enhancing regional connectivity and training hub for people in the sector. Since India is one of the largest aviation markets in the world with an annual air passenger traffic estimated to touch 1.1 billion in the coming years, the government has decided to build 80-90 new airports under NextGen Airports of the BHarat Nirman (NABH) initiative, which was launched in 2018. The ministry is working on various plans to strengthen the aviation infrastructure, improve air connectivity, and create the necessary ecosystem for skill development. Initiatives include air cargo and green aviation policies, and a roadmap for drone ecosystem. The ministry will encourage development of airports by state governments through public-private partnerships and by forming special purpose vehicles.
