ITA Tunnelling Awards 2026: Applications Open for Global Underground Infrastructure Awards in Lisbon

The International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) has opened applications for the 12th edition of the ITA Tunnelling Awards, inviting entries that recognise groundbreaking innovations and outstanding achievements in tunnelling and underground space utilisation.

The 2026 awards ceremony will be held on 4 November in Lisbon, Portugal, as part of the CPT Conference celebrating its 20th anniversary. The conference is organised by Portuguese Commission of Tunnels and Underground Space and will take place from 4 to 6 November 2026. Together, the events will showcase innovative projects and technological advancements shaping the future of underground infrastructure worldwide.

The awards feature several categories including Major Project of the Year, Project of the Year, Rehabilitation, Upgrading and Re-purposing Project of the Year, Technical Innovation of the Year, Product or Equipment Innovation of the Year, Elevated Thinking Underground: Shaping the Future, and Young Tunneller of the Year.

The ITA Tunnelling Awards serve as a global platform to celebrate excellence in underground engineering, highlighting transformative projects, advanced technologies and emerging talent within the tunnelling industry.
