IRSDC unveils multi-modal hub in Surat

Indian Railways Station Development Corporation (IRSDC), along with redevelopment of the Surat railway station will develop it into a world-class multi-modal transport hub (MMTH) by integrating all modes of transport. All the three levels of administration: the Indian Railways' Central Railway zone, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, and Surat Municipal Corporation of local authorities will pool resources and form a Special Purpose Vehicle, named SITCO. The station building, apart from housing a swanky railway station, bus terminal, ticketing hall, station lobby, and a modular passenger friendly concourse, will also build bridges, retail and offices in the commercial towers. In addition, MMTH will be connected with the Surat Metro, BRTS and the suburban network.
