Ircon floats tender for Indo-Nepal rail project

Ircon International Limited has invited tender for the Northeast Frontier Railway to execute civil works at Biratnagar Station (Nepal) in connection with the construction of New Broad Gauge Railway Line from Jogbani (India) to Biratnagar (Nepal). The scope of work includes carrying out civil work including embankment, blanketing, bridge, staff quarters, station building, services buildings, platform, roads & other structures at Biratnagar Station (Nepal) at an investment of ₹29.64 crore with a completion period of 11 months. The Railway Line from Jogbani (India) to Biratnagar (Nepal) is an 18.6 km broad gauge line connecting Jogbani in Bihar to the industrial area of Biratnagar in Nepal at an estimated cost of ₹374 crore. The first phase covering an 8 km line is already completed from Bathnaha to Nepal. The customs point and the remaining portion of the project from the Nepal customs point to Biratnagar is expected to be completed by July 2021. Once completed, it will significantly reduce transportation costs between Nepal and Indian seaports at Kolkata and Haldia.
