Patel Engineering wins ₹1,026-cr contracts for water tunnel & micro irrigation projects

City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) and Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam Ltd (VJNL) have announced that Patel Engineering Limited (PEL) has been declared as L1 for two projects. The first project involves the design and construction of a long-treated water tunnel stretching from Sai Village to Vindhane Village in Raigad District. The second project requires the survey, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a Micro Irrigation System under Tumkur Branch Canal in Karnataka.

The total value of the Micro Irrigation project is ₹470.67 crore, and it will be executed with a joint venture partner. PEL's share in the new order is worth ₹240.04 crore. On the other hand, the Water Tunnel Project worth ₹555.83 crore will be executed without any joint venture partnership.

The Micro Irrigation System project involves the construction of gravity bulk feeders, a Sump cum Pump house, Electrical Substation, and the supply and installation of pumping machineries. Other works, including the construction of a Pipe Distribution Network and Drip Irrigation System, will cover an area of 15,090.21 Hectares using SCADA and Automation. Meanwhile, the Water Tunnel Project will cover a distance of 6.70 kms.

These projects reflect PEL's ongoing commitment to developing critical infrastructure in India, which is essential for the country's sustainable growth and development.
