Indian Government plans to develop over 250 Ropeway Projects across India
The Indian Government plans to develop over 250 projects with a combined Ropeway length exceeding 1200 kilometers in the next five years under the Parvatmala Pariyojana initiative. Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, announced this during his address at the INTERALPIN 2023 Fair, which is the leading international trade fair for Alpine technologies held in Innsbruck, Austria.
Gadkari also highlighted the government's efforts to promote the manufacturing of ropeway components in India under the "Make in India" initiative. Additionally, he encouraged Austrian and European industries to participate in enhancing existing ropeway standards to ensure sustainable and safer transport. The Minister emphasized that the Indian Government's focus is on Public Private Partnership (PPP) under the Hybrid Annuity Model, with 60% contribution support from the Indian government.
