India and ADB seal $1.22-bn infra funding deal

The Indian government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed loan agreements worth $1.22 billion to fund infrastructure projects in various states across India. The agreements will cover projects in the energy and power sector, roads and highways in the northeastern states of Tripura and Assam, metro rail connectivity in the southern city of Chennai, and improvements to key economic areas in the western states including Maharashtra. The loans will help to address the significant infrastructure deficit in various states of the country.
