ICEMA Welcomes Government Move to Extend PMGSY-III, Citing Long-Term Economic Growth

Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA), the apex body representing over 170+ leading companies in India’s Construction Equipment (CE) industry, welcomes the Government of India’s decision to extend the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III) till March 2028.

This extension underscores the Government’s continued emphasis on strengthening rural infrastructure as a foundation for long-term growth and national development. The programme will support the upgradation of key rural routes connecting habitations with markets, healthcare institutions, schools, and nearby towns. Improved road quality and reliability will ease the movement of goods and services, enable faster access to medical facilities, and enhance daily life in rural regions.

Commenting on the announcement, Deepak Shetty, President, ICEMA, said, “Strong road networks are critical to progress. The extension of PMGSY-III will deepen rural connectivity, improve access to essential services like healthcare, education, markets and employment centres. From an industry perspective, PMGSY-III plays an important role in sustaining infrastructure momentum, supporting employment, and strengthening supply chains.
