CapitaLand India Trust Management has announced plans to invest ₹1,940 crore to develop a 55 MW data center in Ambattur, Chennai. The company has acquired a 4.01-acre plot for ₹80 crore to build its third data center in India, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. In addition to this project, CapitaLand India Trust is also planning to develop a fourth data center in Bangalore, allowing the company to expand its presence in India's key data center markets and diversify its portfolio geographically. India's data consumption and demand for information technology solutions are rapidly increasing, but the country has one of the lowest data center densities in the world. The data centers being developed by CapitaLand in Navi Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad are expected to attract global technology giants and cloud service providers, as well as large domestic enterprise clients.

CEO Sanjeev Dasgupta stated that the data centers will enhance the quality of CapitaLand India Trust's portfolio and provide sustainable returns to unitholders. The company is also actively working on a pipeline of data center deals across Asia due to rising investor interest in the digital infrastructure sector.
