Berkshire & Orenda JV to develop Smart City near Navi Mumbai Airport
Berkshire Hathaway Home Services and Orenda India have announced a joint venture to develop a smart city on a 1,000-acre area near the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The Swiss-based company will assist in building the physical and social infrastructure for industrial, commercial, and residential development, with the government providing access to land and support in obtaining necessary permits and licenses. The joint venture, which is a collaboration between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the state government, will include the creation of industrial clusters, warehousing and distribution hubs, entertainment centers, data centers, and information technology parks for IT/ITES/BPO/KPO services. Additionally, the company will develop a knowledge management system to share best practices, provide information on industry trends, and assist in organizing promotional conferences and roadshows. The firm will also leverage its network to attract business and investment to the project.
