India unveils Raxaul-Kathmandu railway project

Raxaul-Kathmandu railway project
Boosting rail connectivity across north-eastern region of the country, the Indian government has recently agreed for conducting a feasibility study on the Raxaul-Kathmandu rail project and the move would be completed within one year. As proposed, railway officials from Nepal and India will jointly conduct and complete the survey, which would be followed by preparation of the detailed project report and project implementation. They also agreed that effective implementations of bilateral initiatives in railway linkages and inland waterways development would transform the areas. The two leaders underlined the role of connectivity in stimulating economic growth and promoting people's movement. According to the joint note, they agreed to take further steps to enhance the economic and physical connectivity by air, road surface and water to newer highs.
