Green Steel & High-Grade Aluminium

Union Steel Minister Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy met UAE’s Minister of Economy, H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, to strengthen India-UAE industrial cooperation under the India-UAE CEPA framework. The high-level dialogue focused on expanding trade, ensuring raw material security, and fostering innovation in steel and aluminium sectors.

Shri Kumaraswamy highlighted India’s emergence as the world’s second-largest steel producer and its commitment to green steel, high-value manufacturing, and resilient global supply chains. He noted the UAE's vital role in helping India achieve its 300 million tonne steel production goal by 2030 through support in raw material supply and energy-efficient technologies.

“India and UAE can be strong partners in green steel production and sustainable industrial growth,” he said, reaffirming the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to build resource-secure, innovation-led global industrial partnerships.

The two sides explored synergies in producing and trading high-grade steel and aluminium for use in critical sectors like automobiles and advanced manufacturing. UAE’s clean energy ecosystem, infrastructure, and strategic trade position were identified as key enablers for this partnership.
