HUDCO approves ₹375-cr for housing sector

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) has allotted Rs 375 crore more for building and providing homes for the homeless in the state of Kerala. The latest clearance is the fourth installment of ₹4,000 crore loan which Hudco has committed for the project. The funds will be used to pay beneficiaries who have started construction of houses in the second phase of Life Mission, said local self government minister A C Moideen, claiming that Hudco‘s assistance would enable construction of 1.84 lakh houses in the state. The beneficiaries of the project are provided assistance in installment after reviewing the progress of house construction. With release of the latest installment, Hudco has so far sanctioned ₹1,500 crore for the project. The government has so far sanctioned Rs 3,041 crore for the second phase of Life Mission including ₹716 crore allotted by local bodies and ₹425 crore by the state government.
