The union minister for Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has sanctioned ₹193 crore to support road sector in Himachal Pradesh under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) program. Roads are the lifeline of the hills and the funds would go a long way in upgrading and strengthening the road connectivity in the state. The CM also urged the Union transport ministry to speed up the notification of 25 national highways including the four-laning of the Shimla-Matour and Mandi-Pathankot national highways, which have already secured the mandatory in-principle approval from the Union transport ministry.
