In a bid to boost air connectivity in the hill state, the Central government contemplating to set up three new airports in Mandi, Shimla, Lahaul-Spitit areas of the Himachal Pradesh, Union Health Minister J P Nadda said recently, adding that these districts of the state will get additional low fare flights from Delhi. To discuss the issue threadbare involving poor air connectivity in Himachal, Nadda along with Kangra MP Shanta Kumar and Shimla MP Virender Kashyap, had met Union minister of state for civil aviation, Jayant Sinha, who readily agreed to the proposals. As a matter of fact, HP is a major tourist destination with huge flow of foreign tourists thronging round the year, it is critical to have robust air connectivity. He added that adequate connectivity and affordable airfare are two significant issues confronting aviation sectors' effectiveness in the state. The minister claimed that under the innovative and novel scheme of UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik), air connectivity is going to improve considerably as the unused airport of Shimla (Jubbarhatti) and under used airports of Kullu and Dharamshala are going to get additional low fare flights from the national capital in the near future.
