Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMRL)
The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMRL) has fast tracked the process of the expansion of the Phase II of the mega metro project including the line connecting the International Airport. The Phase I of the elevated metro rail is being executed by the concessionaire L&T across three corridors, together spanning a stretch of 72 km. The second phase entails extending airport connectivity and development of other stretches. The DMRC, which had earlier prepared the DPR for the metro rail, has been entrusted with the task of preparation of the DPR for the second phase as the Telangana government is looking at raising funds through International Agencies, including JICA, for the expansion project to part fund its implementation, Managing Director of HMRL, NVS Reddy, said, adding that the addition of the 16-km stretch will complete one full stretch of 29 km and ease the traffic on the metro corridors.
