HMRL fast tracks 31-km metro rail corridor

Metro
The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has announced construction of the Metro link to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, from Mindspace junction. While the entire stretch will be elevated, about 3-km will go underground before the route connects to the airport, said managing director N V S Reddy. The Metro work on the airport line will start in a few months once the permissions and clearances from the government are in place. The Airport Express Metro corridor would cover an estimated distance of 31 km and would be extended from the IT corridor, before passing through Nanakramguda, Narsingi, TS Police Academy and Shamshabad to reach the airport station. Meanwhile, the train frequency on the busy route from Ameerpet-Hi-Tec City stretch of the corridor-3 (Nagole-Shilparamam) has been increased to four minutes during peak hours after the reversal facility at Hi-Tec City station has been commissioned recently.
