The Haryana government has approved the DPR for ₹5,126 crore extension of metro rail network in Gurgaon that directly links Huda City Centre with Cybercity crisscrossing through Subhash Chowk, Sector 10, Sector 23, and Udyog Vihar with June 2025 commissioning timeline. The appointment of interim consultants and the centre's approval is also expected. Most of the land required for the project is already with the state government/ About 0.8 acres in Sector 4 belongs to private owners who will have to be rehabilitated. Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) expects to take up the metro project as a Special Project Vehicle, though sub-components of its operation and maintenance may be carried out as a Private-Public Partnership (PPP). An internal analysis by authorities revealed that ridership of 5.49 lakh passengers is expected per day by 2025. Launched in 2016, two years after Khattar took charge, the project's DPR was presented by HMRTC in February 2019, days after it was prepared by RITES. With the draft now approved by the CM, all partners have been asked to submit their concerns and work on the project has gathered speed over the past few months.
