Gujarat floats affordable rental housing schemes

affordable rental housing schemes
The Gujarat government has planned to introduce a new affordable rental housing policy in which the government will incentivize affordable rental housing projects through the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The government is considering a proposal to use the plots reserved for the EWS housing projects to create large scale rental housing facilities under the PPP mode, and will offer these plots to private developers to ensure that the floating population of the cities get the housing facilities on rent at affordable rates. The state government's policy is similar to the Union government's rental housing policy. There are over 8,000 constructed apartments of the Gujarat Housing Board (GHB) that are lying vacant which the government aims to offer under the affordable rental housing policy, to benefit the homeless migrant workers.
