The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced to build 13 lakh housing units for poor in the next two years of his government, which is far more than the 1.46 lakh houses approved during the 10-year rule of the UPA government. Programs such as Swachh Bharat and Smart City project are the programs that are going to transform the urban landscape of the country. Similarly, smart cities would turn out to be the best example of government's performance. So far the government has announced 60 smart cities while the remaining 40 cities will be announced by January next year, Urban Development Minister, V Naidu said.
