Govt. infuses Rs. 15,000-cr in Assam's road

The Centre will invest Rs. 15,000-cr to develop 1,253 km of roads in Assam on converting SHs into National Highways, Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari said, adding that the Centre has already sanctioned an investment of Rs. 15,000-cr for developing the existing roads into NHs. The transport ministry has already ordered to prepare the DPR (Detailed Project Report) and as soon as the state government gives the land and forest clearances, the ministry will start the work. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) will spend Rs. 8,000-cr over the next two years for developing 143 km of road in the area, including a few bridges over Brahmaputra.
