Govt fast tracks Imphal-Jiribam NH project

Imphal Jiribam National Highway
The transport ministry has hastened the Imphal-Jiribam national highway project as funds worth Rs. 22,000-cr as a development package has already been cleared to take care of the investment requirement for the road and allied infra projects in the state. Among others foundation stone for the Makru and Barak bridge on this stretch has already been laid and the construction work on the entire project is set to start very shortly. The ministry has already decided to hand over the Imphal-Jiribam highway project to the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL). Prior to this, the BRO used to be the road building agency in the entire border belt of the north eastern states.
