Govt expands infrastructure pipeline to 7,300 projects

infrastructure pipeline
The Union government has expanded the infrastructure pipeline from 6,835 projects to 7,300 projects. Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman informed that this decision was taken in a recent review meeting of infra expenditure. It pertained to infrastructure expenditure by the department of water resources, river development & Ganga rejuvenation and the ministry of health and family welfare. It was disclosed that many ministries and departments have shown substantial progress in project implementation and expenditure, especially in the second quarter of 2020-21. Also, the majority of ministries and departments have targeted substantially high infra expenditure in FY21 than the actual expenditure of FY20. The FM asked the concerned ministries and departments to push infrastructure expenditure by effectively implementing all pipeline projects in time and to ensure quicker resolution of unresolved issues in coordination with state governments and other ministries and also exhorted them to promote investible projects by holding discussions with prospective investors.
